Thiago, Nice! I will check out your YouTube. Maybe auto translate will work on the videos. Can you get American Knives or European knives easily? There are some companies and makers that make Japanese style knivesby jasonstone20 - General
Taxy, Me either. I wouldn't mind one for a desktop or nightstand clock, or maybe even a wall clockby jasonstone20 - Computers and Tech

Thiago, What knives are available to you? I think Tramotina is made in Brazil, they make good knives and awesome machetes. I only have 2 or 3 knives that have a full height hollow myself, and those are small knives, >3".by jasonstone20 - General
Cowan, Awesome! I would love to see one of your finished blades one of these days!by jasonstone20 - General
Cowan, I was thinking for the bevels a conical sanding drum than matched the diameter of the holes/rings, and same for the insides, but just a regular straight sided sanding drum. Just spitballing, as I haven't done anything like this before. Maybe ask if you haven't already on one of our message groups on Facebook, Instagram, or Discord, there are a bunch of knifemakers there thatby jasonstone20 - General
Thiago, I think you are right about the hidden convex grind. Kylie Harris, when he made knives, used to make a thin convex that thicked about 5-10 mm or 0.5" from the edge to give the knife both cutting performance and strength. He can explain it better than I can. I think if you can find one, you might like a full-height hollow grind.by jasonstone20 - General

Ok, maybe just friend request me on Discord, for some reason I can't search people and find their user id to send the friend request. It really shouldn't be this difficult. Could you try and send me friend request at jasonstone20#7866 . Discord is case-sensitive, and you need the four-digit user id number (#0000)by jasonstone20 - Announcements
Can you forum members that are having issues connecting to the Discord server DM me your Discord user names, that way I can add you myself since the Discord links are time sensitive and don't work after an hour or so.by jasonstone20 - Announcements
Try this; the discord links from discord expire in a few ours, I just grabbed the url so hopefully that will workby jasonstone20 - Announcements

Yes, I think Cliff put me in touch with him a few years ago because he had a specific question about something and I had done some research on the topic. I had been watching his sharpening videos before that. That is how I get a super sharp edge, I use very, very light passes and usually a very high angle edge leading pass, and I get great results.by jasonstone20 - Sharpening Videos
Worm Oracle, Yes exactly! It seems to always come down to techniques vs equipment, or more precisely, the proper techniques with the equipment being used for the desired resultby jasonstone20 - General Sharpening
QuoteKingShapton Even if the thread is a bit older, here are my experiences with flattening arks or other stones made of novaculite. When we talk about flatening, I always start in the area #36 - #60 and because loose sic powder breaks down so easily into finer grits, I replace the powder every minute. When the stone is flat, I condition the surface with finer powder, with a hard ark I would tby jasonstone20 - General Sharpening

We still are working on getting the old forum site up and running. I have been busy with other stuff and also sick with whatever cold is going around. Looks like Worm Oracle uploaded the old forum to an achieving service, I might try doing the same if there is missing data, since my download was 29GB, not the 3GB that Worm Oracle had, but I didn't compress the data and kept all the file stby jasonstone20 - Announcements
KingShapton, I don't know if is interesting! The video is a little long, and I did demonstrate the way to get the desired results, so I am happy with it. The video should actually be broken up into three separate parts, as well as the whole video also. I also found a quick 8 min video I did on Plateau Sharpening. I would make sure you understood and could replicate the 3 Step Method fiby jasonstone20 - Sharpening Videos
