Wolfgang, Kyley, That is true, most law abiding citizens don't get bothered by the police. The problem is when the police think you are a criminal when you are not, just because you fit the description for some reason. When I was younger, I used to get harrassed by the police all the time, whether or not I was actually breaking the law or not. Now that I am older, even though I live in aby jasonstone20 - Video Reviews

Kyley Harris(cKc Knives) sent me this; I commented "Interesting video. I love topics like this, where you see what goes into making things. There is a massive part of me that sees a little room for improvement on the knife sharpeners' techniques, however, and if they adopted Cliff Stamps 3-step sharpening as well as to the 15°DPS to say 12°DPS, and thinned out the BTE thicknessby jasonstone20 - General Sharpening
Sal, Other than small talk, I have been posting everything on the forum and social media at the same time, so no one should miss anything important. Maybe I will create a section on the forum and post the conversations we have had there also.by jasonstone20 - General
sal, Yes, I understand. Forum participation has been pretty low lately so we are looking for alternate forms of media to increase participation, and it appears that the social media message groups are what everyone is using now instead of forums in general. If there is a big switch here, there will be a notification explaining everything. I personally prefer the forum format, as you can catchby jasonstone20 - General
sal, That is a good idea. Maybe also a 3d printed tray to hold stones so you can use any scale. Pressure is definitely one of the things that doesn't get talked about a lot when it comes to sharpening. PS I have a copy of the old forum on a USB Thumb drive that I can send you. If you could email/DM me a mailing address, and I can send it to you.by jasonstone20 - General

Wolfgang, Yeah, that is true. There are some makers here in the USA that make outdoor knives with great geometry and high-performance steels like 52100 and AEB-L. Jeremy McCullen and Joe Calton are the two that come immediately to mind. Kyle Bettleyton also. They are all members of the forum and can be found on social media or on their websites (I know Joe has a website). Speaking of the foby jasonstone20 - Video Reviews
Wolfgang, No issues at all. It was Shawn Houston/Triple B/Big Brown Bear's knife, we met at a local knife store that is right up the street from my house, and he had some of the guys there show me a bunch of sharpening stones. The knife was a Spyderco Manix 2, and I think the reason I had such an easy time sharpening it (not only because I was using the correct abrasive) was that it hadby jasonstone20 - General
Wolfgang, it always surprises me that more knives, especially daily driver/EDC knives are not designed with practical, thought-out features. Instead, we get high-carbide, larger than 20* edge angles, and thick behind-the-edge (ie more than 20 thou) pocket jewelry. It would really be nice if the EDC knife market was more like kitchen knives, designed to be used and sharpened. If more people usby jasonstone20 - Video Reviews

QuoteWolfgang I really enjoy experimenting with these “Duper steels” but I actually prefer simple carbon steels like 1070, 1080, 1095, 01, 52100, etc; and in stainless I like the 440 class, 12C27 etc. For major reprofiling I really need to get a small belt grinder (2” would be great) as I don’t have the patience to do it on stones/plates anymore. I still have a couple of large fixed blades laby jasonstone20 - General

I really am digging the Double Action knife I just got. I wish all knives could have a mechanism like this (not the specific lock works), were you can choose to open it manually or using a hidden automatic release button. I think it is stupid that automatic knives have a restricted legal status(including Bali-songs/Butterfly knives), it just doesn't make any sort of sense. Also, I am findiby jasonstone20 - New Knives, and New to You Knives

Cal Bowie, I haven't started yet on upgrading mine. It is interesting to hear about your progress, however. The only thing I did to my grinder way remove the table so I could lay it flat if I wanted to and use it exclusively as a sharpener and for regrinds.by jasonstone20 - Product Review/Feedback
I just got this knife yesterday: Delta Force M-14 Dual Action It is about the same length as a Spyderco Tenacious, with a blade about the same length at 3.3". I have always wanted a Benchmade Mini-Reflex 2550/2551, and you can see the likeness of the handles (bird-head type): I also wanted a knife that was Dual Action or Double Action, meaning it can operate like a Manual Kniby jasonstone20 - New Knives, and New to You Knives

I am very happy with this knife. It is wearing a mirror polished edge, with a Norton F India micro-bevel. The knife easily passes Kyley Harris's (cKc Knives) bamboo skewer test, and it proves the "Rule of 15" I came up with: 15*DPS, 0.015" BTE, 15u edge finish, is the beginning of performance edge cutting for a pocket knife.
