Wolfgang, Yeah, that is true. There are some makers here in the USA that make outdoor knives with great geometry and high-performance steels like 52100 and AEB-L. Jeremy McCullen and Joe Calton are the two that come immediately to mind. Kyle Bettleyton also. Wolfgang, No issues at all. It was Shawn Houston/Triple B/Big Brown Bear's knife, we met at a local knife store that is right up the street from my house, and he had some of the guys there show me a bunch of sharpening stones. The knife was a Spyderco Manix 2, and I think the reason I had such an easy time sharpening it (not only because I was using the correct abrasive) was that it hadby jasonstone20 - General

Wolfgang, it always surprises me that more knives, especially daily driver/EDC knives are not designed with practical, thought-out features. Instead, we get high-carbide, larger than 20* edge angles, and thick behind-the-edge (ie more than 20 thou) pocket jewelry. It would really be nice if the EDC knife market was more like kitchen knives, designed to be used and sharpened. If more people usby jasonstone20 - Video Reviews

I really am digging the Double Action knife I just got. I wish all knives could have a mechanism like this (not the specific lock works), were you can choose to open it manually or using a hidden automatic release button. I think it is stupid that automatic knives have a restricted legal status(including Bali-songs/Butterfly knives), it just doesn't make any sort of sense. Cal Bowie, I haven't started yet on upgrading mine. It is interesting to hear about your progress, however. The only thing I did to my grinder way remove the table so I could lay it flat if I wanted to and use it exclusively as a sharpener and for regrinds.by jasonstone20 - Product Review/Feedback

I just got this knife yesterday: Delta Force M-14 Dual Action It is about the same length as a Spyderco Tenacious, with a blade about the same length at 3.3". I have always wanted a Benchmade Mini-Reflex 2550/2551, and you can see the likeness of the handles (bird-head type): I also wanted a knife that was Dual Action or Double Action, meaning it can operate like a Manual Kniby jasonstone20 - New Knives, and New to You Knives

I am very happy with this knife. It is wearing a mirror polished edge, with a Norton F India micro-bevel. The knife easily passes Kyley Harris's (cKc Knives) bamboo skewer test, and it proves the "Rule of 15" I came up with: 15*DPS, 0.015" BTE, 15u edge finish, is the beginning of performance edge cutting for a pocket knife. Millscale, Also, I have found that a few passes on a strop with green compound help the Norton Fine India achieve more push-cutting ability than it usually has right off the stone. I am able to do most of the push-cutting things I like from a polished edge while retaining the excellent slicing aggression from the Norton Fine India stone.by jasonstone20 - Experiments

Cal Bowie, Yeah, CCC should have the parts in stock now. I am planning to upgrade my machine step by step, the motor and variable speed will be the last thing I do. I like mine for regrinds and relief grinds, I usually use my Tormek T4 for sharpening or just sharpen by hand. An excellent coarse oil stone from Norton is about as fast as the grinder I have found. Millscale, Yes, for the initial sharpening I usually do not use strop unless I am trying to get a push cutting edge that will split hairs. Even then, they are not necessary most of the time. I find that a few passes on a Spyderco UF or Dans Surgical Black Arkansas Stone will usually bring an edge back better than a strop.
