Valorum, I think the blade is hardened to the typical Kershaw standard, which is pretty good, as it sharpens up nicely, with a crisp edge. I like the Venev stones, although they do glaze quicklyby jasonstone20 - New Knives, and New to You Knives

cKc, Supposedly the blade is suppose to be 0.010" bte. Sorry I forgot that. Originally the blade was to be in K390, but for some reason they can't take it to 0.010", but they can with VG-10. That is what Sal posted in the Spyderco Forum.by jasonstone20 - General

As this stone has two 20° sides, the knife program ShaperAndMower and I wrote should work with it also, using the 20° rotation of the Sharpmaker section to work out the angle desired. At about 45°, you get a 13° per side angle. File is attached, and should open in any browser that supports Javascript.by jasonstone20 - Product Review/Feedback
Cal_Bowie, There are a few things to think about: How fast do you want to flatten the stone, and what is the desired finish you are seeking for the stone, and how out of flat is the stone, how large is the stone? (Also SiC breaks down under use into smaller pieces.) The larger the Arkansas stone, and the more out of flat it is, the longer it will take to flatten. I would get a sample of varby jasonstone20 - General Sharpening

One negative thing that did happen was the thumb disc screw hole stripped. I had to remove it several times for sharpening and regrinding, so I just used some CA glue (SuperGlue) to hold the screw in place.by jasonstone20 - New Knives, and New to You Knives
So I put a mirror edge on the knife with a KME and Venev OCB stones. The knife was very sharp, but cut like garbage. The knife is a thick sabre hollow grind, so I decided to regrind it a little to make it cut better: Here it is compared to my pocket pry bar: First regrind: Second regrind: Regrind results (WARNING: I cut my finger by barely brushing against the blade, and theby jasonstone20 - New Knives, and New to You Knives

Cliff often used this knife in his sharpening stone experiments and testing, and every since I saw him use it, I wanted one: It has a laminated blade of stainless steel on the outside, and carbon steel on the inside, for the blade edge. Unlike my recently acquired Mora 510, this one came with a decent edge, one that would push cut newsprint at the point of hold at a 90*/90*/90* angle.
