Josh, Exactly! Older Spice, Probably, I re-read the thread today and that is the only thing I saw that was close.by jasonstone20 - General
Good way to get cheap security practice locks, the Masker Lock Lock Out Lock. I have two of these, and only picked one of them once: Bosnian BIll Lock Picking Lawyer:by jasonstone20 - EDC
Older Spice, Actually it was a discussion between Cliff and Chum about how to learn to do something. Cliff was saying to use your good knives to practice on since you will learn faster and set good habits.by jasonstone20 - General
I have been thinking of this for the last few weeks. Not only did Cliff leave the work he did, but he provided sources and a model of how to behave when interacting with people in ways to further knowledge in knives and sharpening. He had a way of answering questions and talking to you that you felt engaged. I am also better for meeting Cliff online and following his work, I was able to meet aby jasonstone20 - General

I sharpened three knives today on the 1x30 with the 120 3M Cubitron, 3M Trizact A160, A100, A45, A30, A16, A6, and finally a plain Leather Stop belt. The edge was a mirror edge, and easily tree-topped arm hairs above the skin. I used to be able to get edges like this freehand or with a fixed angle sharpener, but for some reason I am having difficultly achieving that level of sharpness. tarantella, Yeah, Alvin Johnston is also smiling down from heaven. I wish I could have used one of his knives also. This and CPM MagnaCut are the two things that excited me also, I have been pretty bored as of late.by jasonstone20 - General
If you flip the HF 1c30 on its back, add some kind of water drip coolant system, and get some 3M Cubitron, 3M Trizact belts, and a Leather Stropping belt, and you have a very fast, nice knife sharpener. You also can effortlessly reprofile edges also.by jasonstone20 - Product Review/Feedback
I really like this steel and the HT on it. It is super easy to get arm hair tree topping sharp. I need to get the tree topping and some hair whittling on video, I need to wait for my arm hair to grow back.by jasonstone20 - New Knives, and New to You Knives
I really like the Soft Arks and Spyderco Ceramics for finishing, they are great.by jasonstone20 - Product Review/Feedback
jj_sharp, Yes, most likely the steel was fatigued. It really helps to form a new edge on fresh steel.by jasonstone20 - General Sharpening
jj_sharp, Yes, I use oil. Usually baby oil, or if I have the laxative mineral oil, I will take a bottle and mix 1 part mineral oil, 1 part dish soap, and 1 part water and that seems to work well for me.by jasonstone20 - Product Review/Feedback
I am getting rust on the knife blade, around the pivot and up near the flats. This is most likely due to the two contrasting finishes used, one bead blasted and the other a streaked satin.by jasonstone20 - New Knives, and New to You Knives
Jody, Nice write up. I saw these stones when I was at Walmart last, but I didn't pick one up because I have a bunch of Norton/Pike India stones, as well as a bunch of cheap hardware stones. Where did you get the info for putting the petroleum jelly on the stone? I found that procedure very interesting. What finer stone are you going to after the Al2O3 stone? I usually like a Soft Arkansby jasonstone20 - Product Review/Feedback

valorum, Hopefully it will be a full height hollow grind, but I don't have my hopes up. Most likely it will just be a high hollow grind like a Sebenza. On hollow grinds, you can plane down the shoulder of the hollow grind to make it cut better in binding materials, although the knife won't look pretty anymore. Like you noted, with shallow cutting you won't notice an issue.by jasonstone20 - General
valorum, Probably just a file server or a web server for my personal data and web page, nothing special.by jasonstone20 - Computers and Tech
Valorum, I think the blade is hardened to the typical Kershaw standard, which is pretty good, as it sharpens up nicely, with a crisp edge. I like the Venev stones, although they do glaze quicklyby jasonstone20 - New Knives, and New to You Knives
