those pads definitely dull a knife fast. they are very abrasive.. so much so that im not sure what you could test well with them.
i think they'd strip the apex off almost as well as a stone and leave you with a case of geometry cuts.
perhaps high carbide stuff will fair better with them as they are more ragged and tear cutting.

it would definitely be a performer if thinned out.
im actually keeping mine fairly close to stock. i did thin it a little when cleaning it up..
but as a bait and fillet knife, that secondary edge can be good for removing the skin without being so lean it bites into the skin too easily

Hi Jason,
When it was learned tat some of the Siren models had a "pop-up" problem, we solved the problem, though it took a year and a lot of testing.
Once the problem was sorted, we offered to replace any of the earlier pieces. Of those that were returned, some were better than other. We selected one of the better ones for you to play with.

cKc I’m kinda the opposite about my thoughts on G10, I like the aggressive texture. Like the Military or the Chief, I really like it being that grippy.
yeah. this is very much a personal thing. i have skin that is very nerve sensitive, so i prefer to get grip through the shape, rather than stippling.
when i looked close with my camera, this pattern looks like a file. sharp cor

Yeah, I saw that someone chipped it malting the blade through a hair clip. It looks like its about as durable as anything from Bark River Knives. Which is probably acceptable for tungsten carbide at that angle.

Looks like the video embedding could use some tweaking.
it doesn't accept parameters like the time sequence unfortunately

Peel ply g10 always gets me. its such a personal preference thing. it feels like sandpaper to me. i rubbed both sides down with some 800grit and its still pleny grippy but without the sharp teeth that come on peel ply and thats good for me. that traction will make it very hard to slip in the wet.
i think the design is fantastic and look forward to putting it through its paces. when i get back

Sal, i received the knife today. a few comments on it, but nothing in regards to the issue that made the recall occur. this one seems to have no slop in the lock at all, and no popup under any stress. Is the problem something that will occur over time

The fact is that, when asked, you should always be able to prove you are carrying the thing for a good reason (other than self defense, nothing is allowed in the case).
That is the point I am trying to stress here, the ownness is on the state to show you are doing something illegal. And again, how did carrying a tool for self-defense become outlawed in so many places? T

I would note also that while he calls the other person a "professional" as they dont say who it was.. we really dont know that they are a professional.
we also dont know what the pro charged. $10 or $400.. we dont know what he charged to re do them all either.,.
someone might be a professional, but have someone say, i only want to spend $50, what can you do for me, and only later

I do agree that UK prob has the worst knife laws,
Philippines laws are also worded in a similar fashion to NZ, except for some knives like balisong which need a permit

Jason you have misquoted badly.
UK. Law is the same as nz law.
It is completely legal to carry any non locking less than 3" knife for general use.
It is illegal to carry ANY object with the premeditated intent to use against another human including self defense. The moment any item on your person be it knife or pencil or racket is claimed to be for your safety it is legally classed

victory knives catalog
this is a catalog for a NZ knife company. more localized. similar to F Dick or victorinox. very good quality.
RABBITERS KNIFE on PDF page 17, is a great little knife i use for a bit knife, and dispatching knife if i don't have an iki spike, or want to bleed them. i really like this because it has a mora style sheath available.

cKc,
Do you prefer a flexible fillet knife or a more rigid one? Also, what finish on the edge do you like for your fille knives?
depends on what im doing. i use multiple knives. the skinning knife is a 10" minimum lexible knife. so that it can bend to the board and get a long clean stroke without cutting the skin.
when actually doing the fillets a stiffer knife is pre

Just for fun. this is not a channel that just tests practical use. it is most definately noss style in a way, but for folders.
Entertainment value more than anything and a good look at the knife. at 7:50 he nearly chops his fingers off being a fool and switching from holding the knife with a gloved hand, to an unprotected hand so he can use the glove to hit the knife with a mallet. really stup

Voyager is popular, but not for me. i have particular tastes in how a knife looks and the handle shapes.

this is clean enough in its lines that i could get behind it. unfortunately im not interested in D2. the k110 he is using is one i made a lot of knives out of.. and its a very good steel. but without a powergrinder to reprofile im just too lazy. haha.

Hi Kyley,
We notch the spine of the 2nds so they are easily identifiable. 2nds are sold at very low prices. Below our mfg costs. It's kind of a gift to the locals.

If you do end up selling them as seconds please let me know how to get one. Thanks

The simplest way to get a comparison is to look at all the charts on the page together to get a clearer picture.
Aus8 and 10 have similar properties to 440c and 440b loosely, but with less corrosion resistance. they are going to be more like AEBL grade corrosion
10 can get a little bit harder. but the differences are so small i think most production makers are not going to

Not sure what we'll do with the knives we replaced?
That's a tough one for sure. its a lot of money to lay around in storage doing nothing.
As i'm not familiar with exactly what level of manipulation was required to get the design with better fitment against popup, i can only speculate if the blades as they are cannot be repurposed into new handles that would solve

Big problem discovered with the SR1:
The edge is making hard contact with the leaf spring that operates the lock, as well as some contact with the backspacer near the butt of the handle. Not good.
So no internal stop pin?
