HIC HIGH IMPACT CERAMIC
February 10, 2024 07:21AM
Spyderco is creating a blade made out of a new High Impact Ceramic knife material,. The material is made in Switzerland and it claims to be a more Elastic ceramic that is less brittle than normal ceramic blade and less brittle than other ceramic knives .

Spyderco Tooled up to be able to injection mold this material into one of our Mule Team Blade shapes hardened, ground and Sharpened. Some handles and sheaths are available, but most make their own. They are being made available to public on the Spyderco site on the mule Team Sub forum.

Well that's certainly interesting. Thanks for posting here.

Is the material from Harcane? (mfg link, datasheet link)

In the image on the Spyderco site (link) the first and third holes appear elongated. Is this done to accommodate some unit-to-unit variation in part size after firing?

Neat.

Hi Alkali,

Yes. From Switzerland. It was quite the project.

The hole is elongated to be able to fit handles.

sal,
Wow, that looks interesting. Wonder how they will workout in general use?
