Its great to have access to both: Compressed and original versions. Thank You Jason and Worm Oracle for caring. I honestly appreciate it.by JSCT - Announcements
Back to AUS steels - their sulfur content is quite low aichi seem to make very clean alloys which is good sign of steel quality. I would prefer AUS grade over 440 in production knife for simple reason: Being less alloyed in Cr and generally cleaner than most alloys that would result in reaching higher strength in production ht compared to grades like 440B/1.4112 which would be closer tby JSCT - General
Quotemawecowa Been looking past few days for knives with similar class steel and on Ali and there is one called "petrified fish - beluga" This one is in D2 you probably assumed its sandvik 14c28n which I would prefer but one can never have it all in a cheap blade. No complains I have sharpened the factory edge on venevs. So far holds edge just fine. Thickness behind the edge is froby JSCT - New Knives, and New to You Knives
I wouldnt call it a review but yea so far I am impressed positively. Clip is so thin like on a pen and well rounded, very slim and in most tasks I dont even know its there. Probably 1st clip on a folder I wont remove. Spring is properly tense, but not too much - this is hard to evaluate for me as I never used slipjoints much before and I guess everyone may prefer different spring..by JSCT - New Knives, and New to You Knives
So here is the bigger one finished - all it needs is a few more oil coats..by JSCT - Firearms
From this video some who started with an advanced sharpening recently, can get a brief idea of control, speed and pressure. I estimate to generate something between 20 to 40 grams of load on the stone. Sharpening videoby JSCT - Sharpening Videos
Was looking for a lightweight blade I could have on me often regardless what am I wearing and that I wont be sorry to use for some of the stuff I may not want to use expensive custom especially opening packages as your fine edge and bevels quickly get some sticky glue from tape onto them that cannot be rinsed off easily by water and detergent.. I must say I am quite happy with this deby JSCT - New Knives, and New to You Knives
Steel is 1.4037 which is a DIN standard for stainless razor grade - direct analogue to AEB-L and 13C26. Most likely they use one of them as I dont know about 3rd possibility/supplier of steel sheet in EU suitable for knives from this grade.by JSCT - General
Next I used grinder to remove excess material by P60 grit and closer to finished used lapping machine - last grit was P320. Same for chamfers see pics.. Because it was about a week from thermal treatment untill done, I have put cheekpieces into oven for 2h at 60C to ensure wood is dry and applied a tung oil. Yet I havent drilled holes as not sure where it would be most optby JSCT - Firearms
Quoteme2How did you know how high to make it? Well I didnt have that problem because the whole cheekpiece is adjustable for height, side movement and rotation around vertical axis. I will show rest of the process in the next posts, havent had time to write it all yet. If I would have a rifle with a typical hunting stock, I would also make a wooden cheek -piece, whatever wouldby JSCT - Firearms
Blocks I was thermally treating were already roughly preshaped by using saw and rough P60 abrasive. After treatment I decided the orientation based on the wood layers structure. Mill was used to remove material at 105 degree angle and leave a desired thickness. If You dont have mill same could be done faster with less precision by saw (picture). Next I used an aluminum sby JSCT - Firearms
Recently bought adjustable cheekpiece for competition rifle and became dissapointed by how uncomfortable is it to rest your cheek againts piece of bent aluminum alloy sheet. Even at room temerature you instinctively lift your cheek from its surface, as dont want to rest it on something that cold. I cant imagine to shoot for hours in just slightly cold weather..
