I decided to go full Mike Swaim and sharpen this knife with a double cut bastard file, giving it an Ultra-Coarse edge. I will see how long this lasts for me with my cutting style.

This video reminds me how out of practice I am with making feathersticks. Since I just got two new Mora's, I better start practicing again, since it is summer and there are dry sticks all over the place.

Cliff often used this knife in his sharpening stone experiments and testing, and every since I saw him use it, I wanted one:
It has a laminated blade of stainless steel on the outside, and carbon steel on the inside, for the blade edge. Unlike my recently acquired Mora 510, this one came with a decent edge, one that would push cut newsprint at the point of hold at a 90*/90*/90* angle. Th

New Knives, and New to You Knives
One thing about this knife that reminds me of knives from 20 years ago, is that it has Teflon washers, so no drop free or Spydie-flick possible with this knife, it is meant to open with the Wave-feature or a controlled opening with the thumb-disc.

Often, you hear about sharpening, that the fastest way to remove steel from a knife is to use Diamond plates. This, in fact, is not exactly true. Yes, an XC diamond plate has a coarse grit, and given if it is clean and lubricated, it is an effective sharpening tool. But, compare it to an oil stone, like a Norton Crystolon (SiC) or India ( Al2O3) Stone, freshly conditioned, it is slow cutting.

sal,
Yes, I have downloaded Cliff's Forum and we kept the old forum up as a read-only site so people can still read the work on the site, especially Cliff's work. Josh of Razor Edge Knives made a list of things that he learned from Cliff, and I was having a similar idea of listing all the things that I learned from Cliff:

Luis,
Yeah, it is a nasty business. Just think, Apple says it has thousands of images to compare pictures to, and all the poor children that it took to make all those pictures, it is disgusting.

Josh,
Great stuff! Cliff was also a huge influence on me, as he was a lot of people, and I go over his work every now and then because although I still am not on Cliff's level of understanding, my understanding has improved, so I understand his work the more work I do myself.

Luis,
I wish they would have gone with the liner lock, I like liner locks better. The CQC-5K has a liner lock, and I almost got that knife instead, but it is a little smaller and has a black blade, which I am trying to avoid. The Wave is fine, you have to deliberately employ it, unlike a zip-tie Wave which always deploys.

Just got this knife, I have been wanting one for a long time:

The very first Mora knife I bought was a Mora 511, the old style (which just happened to be delivered before the Mora 2/0 Classic ), and I just picked up a Mora 510, which was discontinued some years ago. Since I just got the knife, I only can say that the edge was not shaving sharp, and the blade and a small nick in it near the base of the blade. A few passes on the 12.5° per side of the Spyde
