Machete Specialists ( [
www.machetespecialists.com] ) is exhibiting general signs of being defunct as a business.
I attempted unsuccessfully to place an order with them last week. Their website was still visible and it was possible to place catalog items in a shopping cart. But that was as far as I got:
1. When I attempted to place an order I was unable to provide payment information. The checkout page provided an error message:
"Sorry, it seems that there are no available payment methods for your state. Please contact us if you require assistance or wish to make alternate arrangements."
My location is such that it would be very odd for a vendor in Missouri to be unable to accept payment from me.
2. I called the telephone number shown at the bottom of their website's front page. The call was answered by a recording indicating that the number was not valid.
3. I sent email to the address shown at the bottom of their website's front page. The message bounced.

A bit of web searching reveals that people have wondered about Machete Specialists' status before:

But it sounds like in those cases their website was still accepting orders and it was still possible to call or email them, even if responses were slow or absent.
That does not appear to be the case now.

This is unfortunate. I have bought things from them in the past without any trouble. They have at times had things in stock which were hard to find elsewhere. I wish them the best but things do not look good.
I hope I am wrong. If anyone has better information, please share (if appropriate for a public forum).
