Cold Steel SR1 Lite

This looked like an interesting knife just because of the rather extreme stock thickness and lock strength. It’s not very expensive, I like 8Cr13MoV just fine, so I figured I’d buy one. I’ll check the HRC later tonight:

Stock thickness is 0.190” and the edge is a uniform 0.035”, so I don’t see how it’s really possible to break the blade or ripple the primary grind, the durability is just too high. It’s interesting. The edge is literally 75% thicker than the Chief’s edge.

Now that's a knife you can hand to pretty much anyone and the only thing you worry about getting damaged is themselves lol.

Ryan,
I have been thinking of picking that knife for a while, I just haven't got around to it. Should be a good beater knife. If I recall, they also make a Tanto version. If they do, that is the one I want. The American Tanto is great for EDC and utility use.

Yeah the triad lock. With an oversized stop pin, too. ????

Edit to add, the “????” Is what the system defaults to when it doesn’t understand the emoji input.

Midway USA has a number of Cold Steel knives on pretty steep discounts right now, just an FYI for everyone. I ordered a 4 Max Scout, after tax and with free economy shipping it was $67.50, for that price I had to try it.

Big problem discovered with the SR1:

The edge is making hard contact with the leaf spring that operates the lock, as well as some contact with the backspacer near the butt of the handle. Not good.

So no internal stop pin?

Either that or the placement/fitment of it isn’t correct. It’s a big problem though, impacting the edge pretty badly in that spot.
