I sharpened three knives today on the 1x30 with the 120 3M Cubitron, 3M Trizact A160, A100, A45, A30, A16, A6, and finally a plain Leather Stop belt. The edge was a mirror edge, and easily tree-topped arm hairs above the skin. I used to be able to get edges like this freehand or with a fixed angle sharpener, but for some reason I am having difficultly achieving that level of sharpness. Not a bad investment, if you go to Cliff Curry's website he has a package of belts for $39.95, so if you add in the HF belt sander for about $50, you can get a great sharpener for not a lot of money. Only downside is that some of the higher grit 3M Trizact belts don't seem to like to get wet, but there is belt grease that works really good to keep the belt lubricated.
